An Excerpt from Trusting Me by Ashley Kay

Oh my god! That did not just happen. Jackson Heart did not climb into my bed. Nope, didn’t happen. I’m obviously lying to myself, because I can still sense the shadow of his hand against my breast caressing my nipple. Heat shoots down my front, straight to my pussy. I grab the coffee going on autopilot to start the pot. Breathe. He didn’t crawl into your bed on purpose. His expression said it all.

Cough.

I jump.

“Shit! You’re stealthy. Are you part vampire or something?”

“Huh?” Holy crap. My crush for as long as I can remember, stands in my kitchen. Loose fitted, unbuttoned jeans hang off his hips. I can make out the top of his boxer briefs. A few black curls of hair sticking out. My mouth waters.

I only glimpsed his cock, but he is massive. Wonder what he would feel like. Stop, I have enough trouble.

“Uh, Lily. You’re starring. You okay?” I flinch at the sound of his voice. Jeez, what is wrong with me?

“Sorry, you. Well, you caught me by surprise. Kinda forgot you were coming.”

“Well, that makes one of us.” His lips form a thin line, and his square jaw goes tight.

“What do you mean? Didn’t Katy tell you I’m staying here, too?”

“Nope, I asked if I can stay, and she said yes. I talked with her earlier too. She didn’t mention you’d be here. I’m sorry.” He grinds out.

I’m a little pissed, too. What is she thinking, not telling him? A thought hits me. Oh, I’m so gonna get her! I told her no meddling, she better not have set this up.

“Katy’s on her honeymoon. She probably assumed your mom told you.” I hope so, but no way am I throwing Katy to the wolf that is her big brother. He is always extra harsh on her, and I’m sure he plans to chew her out for this. The coffee dings, signaling it’s ready. “Want some?”

Jackson’s stare darkens, making my insides turn to mush. His eyebrows raise. “Got anything stronger?”

I can’t help but laugh. “In this house? You are aware Connor owns a pub?” I head to the liquor cabinet they keep stocked at all times. “Here we are. One bottle of whiskey. Will this do?” He shrugs. I grab two glasses and serve us up. Down the hatch. Ugh, it’s so strong. How does Katy drink this all the time? I shiver as the alcohol slides down my throat and into my belly.

“Don’t like whiskey?” His voice is husky and sends a whole new round of shivers down my spine. Jackson Heart is one sexy man. He was this broody little boy who pranked us all the way until high school. After puberty hit, he became a giant of a teenager, growing into a man right before me. I didn’t realize how much I wanted him until the day of his seventeenth birthday party.

When Elise and I had arrived for a sleepover with Katy, the party was in full swing. The entire varsity football team was laughing in the Heart’s pool. But my eyes only went to one person. Jackson. Who was shirtless, sporting a pair of wet board shorts. Beads of water dripped down his well-toned abs, and he had on the brightest smile. I remember wishing he would look at me that way. Then he turned, and we locked eyes. Those piercing gray pools held me in place. And I swear I saw them light up with heat for a second. But then Katy squealed because Jackson’s best friend smashed whipped cream all over her face. When I turned back, his smile turned hard. That one glance stole my fourteen-year-old heart.

Meet the Fascinating Ashley Kay

Hey, I’m Ashley – Contemporary Romance Author and lover of sweet treats, steamy coffee and yummy books. I’m a sucker for a growly alpha male – probably why I married one. Deep down, I’m just a girl who loves creating her own worlds and crazy characters.

I currently live in Nevada with my little girl and bearded husband. I’ve got a thing for wine labels, desserts, and anything sparkly. Oh and pens, I can’t forget the pens. Office supplies make me giddy.

At my core, I’m a dreamer and a creator. My favorite part of the day beside my family is sitting down to dive into the world I’ve created. I often tell my husband to pinch me because I can’t believe that I get to share my world with others and call it work.
