Please help us welcome Addison Brae back to the blog this week. Addison is here to share her contemporary romantic suspense, Becker Circle with us. Welcome Back, Addison! We are thrilled to have you visit us again!
About Becker Circle:
My first and only boyfriend believed I was too gutless to leave. He was dead wrong. My name’s Gillian, and I graduated Harvard early and left his hot temper and everyone else behind for Dallas. Determined to make it on my own, I land a second job bartending at the neighborhood pub smack in drama central where most every jerk in the neighborhood hits on me—at a huge price.
A week into the job, the neighborhood’s very popular drug dealer falls to his death a few feet from the table I’m serving. The cops say suicide, but the hot guitar player in the house band and I suspect foul play, and I intend to prove it. We dig deeper, grow closer, and make a shocking discovery. We know the murderer. Watch the book trailer. Look for the sequel, Dark Energy, releasing in 2020.
Genre: contemporary romantic suspense
You can find Becker Circle on Amazon US, Amazon UK, Smashwords, Apple Books, Kobo, and B&N Nook. Proceeds go to Hope’s Door New Beginning Center to help fight domestic abuse.
Excerpt from Becker Circle:
He lowers his window part-way, eyes on me. I snap my head around and pull my scarf to cover my face. If I recognize him, he probably knows it’s me too. “Jon, come on. Get here,” I whisper underneath the layers and fight the urge to seek cover inside Pinkie’s. But then he’ll think I’m running from him.
As the truck rolls by, I turn toward the building. I’d rather not know if he’s looking back through the rearview. All I want to see is taillights disappearing around the curve. When they do, I beeline through the door and land in the arms of a two-hundred-thirty-pound bouncer.
“Oh!”
“You okay, ma’am?” He looks down at me.
My face burns hot and I’m panting like I sprinted all the way from the office. “It was that m…” but I stop myself and glance back to confirm the unwanted red truck is gone. “Yeah, I’m fine. May I wait here?” He doesn’t need to know I only need to hide behind him.
“Sure.” The music pulsates when the inner door swings open and he motions a couple in.
He stops the next group that looks barely out of high school. “IDs please.”
When they don’t produce them, he waves them back outside. “It’s too cold out there anyway.”
“Thanks.” I peer around his shoulder for a friendlier red truck just as one stops in the shadows alongside the curb. I think it’s a different vehicle, but I’m not moving from safety until I see the driver. A guy steps out and lights a cigarette. The flame illuminates Jon’s face.
I look up then down a street now empty of headlights and stand for a moment until I’m certain I’m no longer panting like a porn star.
I walk outside and wave. Jon’s leaning against his truck looking very James Dean-like in his jeans, black leather jacket, and cigarette-drag scowl. He nods back, walks around to the other side and opens the door. Careful to not cross the sidewalk too quickly, I meet him there.
