Melody, a historical romance from Caroline Clemmons

I am super excited to welcome Caroline Clemmons back to the blog again. Welcome, Caroline we are thrilled that you are joining us again and with a Christmas story this time! As some of you may know my assistant loves Christmas books so I know she is anxious to hear more about Melody. Readers, Caroline has brought a treat for you too. Read down to learn how you may become the lucky winner.

Thank you, Madison, for having me as your guest today.

I’m sharing MELODY, Angel Creek Christmas Brides book 7! This book was such fun—and work—to research and write. It is quite a bit different but I like it. I hope readers will. As an e-book, MELODY is available at the Universal Amazon link of http://mybook.to/Melody. In addition, the book is available in print and is free in KU.

Angel Creek is in Montana but all the brides in this series are from Charleston, South Carolina. In the Civil War, Charleston was one of the hardest hit cities in the South. Many homes were destroyed—including Melody’s—and finances were in a mess. If the young soldiers even tried to return home, they found nothing was left for them. Most of the single men set out for the West. As a result, no marriageable men were available for the many women in the South.

In 2018 releases, five of those women answered an advertisement for mail-order brides for one town, Angel Creek, Montana. That meant they could marry and still have friends near, an irresistible opportunity. Fortunately, their unions were successful.  Julia, one of last year’s brides, wrote her friends in Charleston that more men wanted wives. She invited her friends to come to Angel Creek. Six of them accepted the invitation for the 2019 releases: Caroline, Melody, Elizabeth, Emma, Viola, and Ginger.

What would you have done? There were few options for a woman of middle to upper classes. Remain at home and become a spinster? The only acceptable jobs were to become a governess or a lady’s companion (nice term for a fancy maid) or possibly a schoolteacher. The alternative was to take a chance and marry a man you didn’t know. I think I’d have taken the chance, especially on the second group. After all, their friends in Montana would help them choose nice men.

Each of the Angel Creek Christmas Brides is a stand-alone book and all are sweet romances. Once you’ve read one, I believe (hope) you’ll want to read the entire series. CAROLINE and MELODY have been released and the other four are available for preorder. I love preorder because you select it and then later—poof!—it pops up on your e-reader as if by magic! So you don’t miss any of this series, here are all of the buy links:

About MELODY:

Such a tiny lie…

Desperation drove her…

She couldn’t know the risk…

Melody stretched the truth a bit—quite a bit—when she wrote to her groom-to-be. After the death of her grandmother, Melody Fraser must quickly leave what has been her home in South Carolina. There are those who think she murdered her Nana Fraser. She’s innocent but there’s talk about arrest and prosecution. To escape, this Southern belle agrees to become a mail-order bride in far away Montana. Surely things will work out, won’t they?

Nicholas “Nick” Walker is a doctor from Gettysburg whose wife and children were killed when mortar fire destroyed their home. Eager to escape the memories and ravages of the Civil War, he buys a medical practice in Montana Territory. He wants a competent nurse who can assist him with operations and care for patients as his plans expand for a hospital. He wants a well-organized wife to keep him company and start a family. With his usual efficiency, he combines the two into one job description when he requests a mail-order bride.

What will it take to teach Nick that—although she isn’t what he expected—Melody is exactly what he needs?

  • I’ll award a $10 Amazon gift card to one person who comments on this post. Be sure and leave your email so I can contact you if you’re the winner.

Thanks again for sharing your blog, Madison!

About Caroline Clemmons:

Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To compensate for this illogical error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains in a tiny office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their dog and three rescued indoor cats as well as providing nourishment outdoors for squirrels, birds, and other critters.

The over fifty titles she has created in her pink cave have made her an Amazon bestselling author and won several awards. She writes sweet to sensual romances about the West, both historical and contemporary as well as time travel and mystery. Her series include the Kincaids, McClintocks, Stone Mountain Texas, Bride Brigade, Texas Time Travel, Texas Caprock Tales, Loving A Rancher, and Pearson Grove as well as numerous single titles and contributions to multi-author sets. When she’s not writing, she loves spending time with her family, reading her friends’ books, lunching with friends, browsing antique malls, checking Facebook, and taking the occasional nap.

    3. I love the decorations.
    4. I love the fact that my only white Christmas was here. Most years, Christmas weather is mild to hot. I have lived in places where it snows several times every winter, yet my white Christmas was here!

  7. I love having my family with me and sitting in front of the Christmas tree and remembering Christmases from the past especially when I was a child. Both of my parents are gone now but I can still see my dad and mom and us children decorating the tree together and hear the laughter as we worked together.

  8. Seems everyone commented on the Facebook post instead of here except for two who said their comment was awaiting moderation.
