The holidays are approaching at the speed of light. So, before you finalize your lists, I am sharing my top 15 gifts to give and receive this season. Some are affordable; some are more appropriate as gifts from one of my Beguiling Bachelors. Thank you to those of you who responded on Facebook with your suggestions. They were great ideas, but I expected no less from my readers
It is better to Give than to Receive
Here are 15 of my favorite gifts to give and receive.
- Electronics – Check out the huge variety of chargers, phones, robots, drones and more on Amazon.
- Sports Regalia – Who wouldn’t like a shirt or hat from their favorite team? I suggest a Cubs World Series Champs hat or t-shirt.
- Service – Breakfast in bed? A day on the couch while your lover does the cooking, rubs your feet, washes your hair? Sublime..
- Classes – Perhaps pottery or maybe golf lessons? Help your special someone try something new or hone an existing skill. Consider cooking classes. Sur la Table offers several. Added benefit – great eats!
- Spa days – This can range from a manicure to the entire day or even weekend. Great to give to friends and then make a date of it too. Check out Spafinder.
- Contributions –Donate to a charity in honor of your special someone. I am on the board of Mental Health America – North Shore if you want a suggestion, but consider the SPCA, Alzheimer’s Association, Food Bank or YWCA near you. You can make a difference.
- Jewelry – Keeli’s jewelry may be fiction, but her character is based on my talented friend, jewelry designer Barbara Parker. And we all know that diamonds are a girl’s best friend.
- Books – What did you expect, I am an author after all. Statistics show that 20% of romance readers are men,
so consider something from my Beguiling Bachelor Series or a book by Sylvia Day or Norah Roberts. Or try a “near future thriller” like “Lock In” by John Scalzi or a biography of Alexander Hamilton. Of course, the classics are always a good choice, too. - Lingerie – Victoria’s Secret is tried and true but if you want to add some extra spark and adventure, check out places like G Boutique , Adam&Eve or The Pleasure Chest where you can get toys too.
- Date Night – Consider sports, movie or theater tickets. Put the tickets in a popcorn box along with a box of candy, an IOU for the cost of parking, or a coupon for beer and hotdog.
- A private chef – Local caterers will often make lovely dinners for two at your home. Added plus? They clean up everything. Dress up, light candles –you get the picture.
- Collectibles– My editor loves rubber ducks, my sister collects perfume bottles. Me, I collect art glass. Begin or add to a collection.
- Cashmere – A sweater, a scarf, gloves or even cozy socks. Check out Pure Collection for some gorgeous options.
- Subscriptions and Memberships – Music, movies, magazines, cheese of the month, flower of the month, the options are endless and the gifts keep coming. My favorites: Wine of the Month, Coffee of the Month and fruit from Harry and David. Or membership to a local theater or art museum. Wyatt would approve.
- Getaways – Plan a weekend in the mountains or at the beach. Sneak away to a romantic B&B like Stone Porch. Pick an old city hotel for a fun weekend. The Palmer House with their famous lobby is a good choice.
That’s my list…Please share your ideas for ways you add romance to your holidays.
